Justin Fields is now the Jets’ quarterback after spending last season with the Steelers backing up Russell Wilson.

Fields recently opened up about his decision to join the Jets.
He revealed that he considered returning to Pittsburgh, but one factor ultimately swayed him toward New York.
“Like I said, (head coach Aaron Glenn), playing against him for the first few years of my career in the league. Excited to change the culture here and get things going. I think that was, kind of, the most appealing thing to me,” Fields said.

Glenn was hired this offseason with a mandate to end the franchise’s long playoff drought.
Pittsburgh opened last season 4-2 with Fields at QB while Wilson dealt with an injury.
After Wilson took over, the Steelers made the playoffs but stumbled down the stretch, losing their final five games, including in the AFC Wild Card round against the Baltimore Ravens.
The move to New York gives Fields something he never had in Pittsburgh: complete control of the offense and a genuine opportunity to establish himself as a franchise quarterback.
His familiarity with Pittsburgh’s defensive schemes could provide an advantage in this game.
Fields showed some encouraging signs during the preseason and now gets his chance to prove he belongs as a full-time NFL starter.
