The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be without one of their top pass catchers on Sunday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday that tight end Isaiah Likely is not expected to suit up for Baltimore. Baltimore’s No. 2 tight end is recovering from a broken bone in his foot. Likely underwent surgery in late July and is expected to return to the field early in the season.
With Likely unlikely to play, the Ravens will be without one of their biggest weapons from the team’s divisional round loss to Buffalo. In last year’s playoff matchup, Likely led all Ravens pass catchers by hauling in four of five targets for 73 yards and one touchdown. His 24-yard touchdown reception in last year’s playoff game pulled the Ravens within two points of Buffalo in the final two minutes of the game.
Likely finished last season with career-highs in receptions (42), yards (477) and touchdowns (6).
The tight end may not be the only key player who misses Sunday’s game for Baltimore. Free agent signing Jaire Alexander has not practiced in three weeks due to a knee injury. John Harbaugh told Ravens media members that the cornerback was active in a workout this week, but his status for the game is up in the air.
Fullback Pat Ricard is also dealing with a soft tissue injury that has hampered him since mid-August.
While some key players’ statuses are still unknown, at least one key contributor will not take the field for Baltimore on Sunday Night Football.
