Three months after marrying Leanna Lenee in Tennessee, the Jaguars WR/CB welcomed his first child, a baby boy. Coach Prime, who has mentored Hunter like family alongside Shedeur Sanders, couldn’t hold back his emotions as he discussed Hunter’s new journey during the pre-week two presser.
“Oh my god. I’m taking a deep breath because I love him to life. I love him like he’s a son,” Sanders said. “It’s funny when your son is now a father. So that’s why I had to really step back. It’s a beautiful thing.”
The Pro Football Hall of Famer shared the advice he gave Hunter as he takes on the role of a parent alongside his NFL career.
“The thing that I told him is let’s correct all the things that we purposely think that we didn’t receive as a child and let’s correct that in our fatherhood. Let’s do that. And no matter what happens in life, let’s make sure we’re the best darn father that ever walked. That’s what I told him. And I’m proud of him and I love him to life. And I miss him dearly.”
Hunter and Leanna tied the knot in a private ceremony on May 24, 2025, in Tennessee after years of dating through his Jackson State and Colorado days. The timing for Deion Sanders’ advice couldn’t be more apt for Hunter with the Jaguars’ season opener just days ahead.

Leanna Lenee Gets 4-Word Appreciation From Travis Hunter Following Baby Boy’s Birth
On August 28, Hunter and his wife, Leanna Lenee, shared the biggest news of their lives: the arrival of their baby boy. The couple, who had been in headlines with rumors of a possible split brewing, shared a heartfelt video titled “Dear Son…” on their joint YouTube channel.
The announcement surprised the football world, as Hunter and Leanna had kept the pregnancy private until recently. In the video, Hunter lovingly told his wife,
“You did good, baby,” before pointing out that the newborn “looks just like me.”
Hunter is days away from making his professional debut with the Jaguars, who will open their season against the Carolina Panthers on September 7.
