The leader of Liverpool City Council has told concerned business owners that congestion measures near Everton's new stadium are needed for safety reasons.
Several owners of businesses near Hill Dickinson stadium said they were losing thousands of pounds because of matchday road closures that they had not been informed about.
Both Sandhills Lane and Bank Hall Lane have been closed on matchdays to help the running of the nearby Sandhills station.
"It's a joint approach with Everton's traffic management contractor who we work really closely with to make sure it's a safe environment for people going to and from the match," Robinson told BBC Radio Merseyside.
