Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is releasing a new documentary.
Fans will soon get to see Saquon Barkley return to the field as the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Dallas Cowboys to kickoff the NFL season on Thursday, September 3, 2025. On the eve of the big NFC East rivalry showdown, Barkley revealed that fans will also soon be getting an inside look at the playmaker’s life on and off the field.
Barkley announced that for the past five years he has been part of a documentary that will be released by Amazon Prime on October 9. The Eagles running back reposted the trailer that Amazon released just 24 hours before the start of the NFL season.
“It’s been a five-year journey,” Barkley noted in the trailer for “Saquon.” “I’ve been using this as my diary, as my therapy. You get to see the journey it took to get to this point.
“… It’s one of the coolest things that I’ve ever been a part of. Let’s go show the world I’m Saquon Barkley.”
Here’s what you need to know about the latest Eagles news on Barkley.
Saquon Barkley’s New Documentary Is Expected to Provide New Footage of the Star’s Decision to Bolt the Giants for Eagles
Barkley enlisted the help of some heavy hitters in Hollywood as Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of what Amazon is describing as a “feature-length documentary.” Viewers are expected to get a glimpse of Barkley’s contentious negotiations with the New York Giants and his decision to ultimately bolt for the team’s NFC East rival.
“This feature-length documentary takes viewers inside the locker room to witness firsthand how one of the NFL’s most electric running backs navigated his career’s most challenging chapter—methodically battling back from ACL surgery with the same explosive power that defines his playing style, while enduring tense contract negotiations with the team that drafted him, ultimately leading him to a bitter division rival,” Amazon detailed in a September 3, press release.
“But the heart of this film beats strongest away from the stadium, where Saquon’s identity as a father, husband, and friend reveals a man whose priorities transcend yardage and contracts. Through intimate footage spanning five years, this definitive portrait showcases an athlete who never doubted his abilities, even when the outside world questioned what would come next.”
Saquon Barkley on the Eagles Coming Off a Super Bowl Run: ‘We Can’t Skip Any Steps to Get to Where We Want to Get to’
On the field, all eyes are on the Eagles as Barkley and his teammates attempt to defend their Super Bowl run. Barkley indicated that the Eagles’ work during the offseason should once again have Philly in contention.
“The best way I can answer that question is success is not an accident,” Barkley told NFL Network’s “The Insiders” during a June interview. “We know the recipe. We know what it takes. We can’t skip any steps to get to where we want to get to. Last OTAs, it was the same thing, and we already know how training camp’s gonna be and we know how it’s gonna be during the season.
“We know the recipe, and we just got to stick to it and a little bit of luck when that comes in with staying healthy. We do that, with the talent that we have and the coaches that we have, we’ll be in a good position.”
Barkley and the Eagles may have to work hard to find any doubters. The Eagles are sizable 8.5-point favorites versus the Cowboys in Week 1, per FanDuel.
