£300,000-a-week trio benched - Crystal Palace's strongest XI after deadline day [view]

Crystal Palace's manic transfer window has come to an end, with some stars leaving, some staying at the last-minute and a cohort of impressive additions making the move to Selhurst Park - and now manager Oliver Glasner must decide who to play in his strongest XI across the season.

They have European football to contend with, meaning that they will need to rotate heavily - but GIVEMESPORTnames who the Austrian should have in his best XI if they are to impress on the domestic and continental scene this season.

Dean Henderson Nails Down Number One Spot

This one is a no-brainer. Other players will get the plaudits for their win in the FA Cup final, but it's easy to forget that Dean Henderson saved an Omar Marmoush penalty - and being in the England side, there is only one player who should be in the conversation to play between the sticks.

New signing Walter Benitez will be brought in to play in the cup competitions and potentially in the easier Europa Conference League fixtures, but there is no doubting Henderson will be first-choice.

Jayden Canvot Benched After Guehi Stays

Marc Guehi in action for Crystal Palace

Palace's backline will remain with their captain for the time being, after Liverpool's move for Marc Guehi fell through at the eleventh-hour - and whilst that is good for the Eagles now, it may not be good for their coffers in the future.

He will be partnered by regular defensive partner Maxence Lacroix in the back three, with the Frenchman having impressed during his time at Selhurst Park - but the last place is up for grabs.

Chris Richards has been solid since his move to south London, and although Jayden Canvot's deadline move from Toulouse for £21million suggests that he will be a part of their lineup in the future, the American should keep his place for now - with Canvot maybe coming in once Guehi departs.

No Place for Will Hughes in Midfield

Adam Wharton in action for Crystal Palace

Palace's midfield has always been strong but there have been extremely strong additions in recent times - and that is a reason for their FA Cup win.

Daniel Munoz has been electric since his move from Genk in the January transfer window in 2024, and so he will rightly take his spot on the right of the four-man midfield.

England supremo Adam Wharton will be featuring in the centre of the park after his impressive performances in recent months, and although Will Hughes has performed well, more physicality should be added in the form of injured star Cheick Doucoure, provided everyone is fit.

Left midfield provides a dilemma, with Croatian star Borna Sosa landing in from Ajax over the summer, but Tyrick Mitchell is more defensive - and if Munoz is flying down the wings, he could sit in there to make it a back four, should Richards tuck in at right-back out of possession.

New-look Crystal Palace Attack

Yeremy Pino

Star man Eberechi Eze's departure to Arsenal naturally throws up a curveball, but the Eagles have replaced him extremely well with Spain international and Villarreal wide man Yeremy Pino, in what is quite a coup for the south London club.

Striking menace Jean-Philippe Mateta will carry on his exceptional form up front ahead of the £90,000-a-week Nketiah, having scored 30 goals over the past two Premier League seasons, and rapid winger Ismaila Sarr will cause mayhem down the right-hand side with his finishing and performances having improved under the Austrian gaffer since his move.

Crystal Palace Strongest XI: Henderson; Richards, Guehi, Lacroix; Munoz, Wharton, Doucoure, Mitchell; Pino, Mateta, Sarr

Substitutes: Walter Benitez, Nathaniel Clyne, Jayden Canvot, Borna Sosa, Will Hughes, Daichi Kamada, Eddie Nketiah, Christantus Uche, Justin Devenny
