Pittsburgh Steelers fans are expected to take over MetLife Stadium this Sunday. According to a projection by Vivid Seats, the stadium is expected to be 48 percent Steelers fans.
The data is based on ticket sales and the location of fans. In the past, Steelers fans have taken over many stadiums, and they did so last year in the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Oftentimes, Steelers fans do not travel for games, but rather live in the city in which the Steelers are traveling to given the fanbase is a national one.
The tickets for the game are averaging $161. Steelers fans took over MetLife the last time the team travelled there, but the difference is that was not the home opener. Along with a new coach and quarterback brining some renewed optimism to Jets fans, it is expected that Gang Green should have a solid fan showing on Sunday.
Steelers fans still are notorious for taking over stadiums, however, and do so every time the team goes to the South or the West Coast, especially in places like Atlanta, Las Vegas, Arizona, and Los Angeles.
