The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed wide receiver Lance McCutcheon to their practice squad, the team announced. McCutcheon was released by the team during final cuts and comes back after they released Robert Woods following his request to be cut.
McCutcheon had some standout moments with the Steelers during training camp. However, he never rose up the depth chart to claim a spot on the active roster.
McCutcheon was with the Steelers for multiple weeks during last season on the team’s practice squad. He was released in November.
McCutcheon is a 6-foot-3, 203-pound wide receiver who came out of Montana State. McCutcheon, an undrafted free agent in the 2022 NFL Draft, signed with the Los Angeles Rams. He spent the entire 2022 season with the Rams. In 2023, McCutcheon started out with the Houston Texans but later joined the New York Jets.
He stayed with the Jets through the end of the 2023 season and into the 2024 offseason. The Jets cut him from the practice squad at the end of August, and he has remained a free agent since then.
McCutcheon ran a 4.57 40-yard dash coming out of Montana State. He was a First-Team All-Big Sky selection in 2021, posting 1219 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 61 receptions.
