According to ABC Columbia, Thornwell allegedly struck a woman in the back of the head and threw a cup of water at her while she was holding their young child.
Thornwell, 30, played three seasons in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans between 2017 and 2021.
Last season played overseas in China for Xinjiang Flying Tigers, where he averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
During his time in the NBA, he played 160 games, in which he averaged 2.5 points and 1.3 rebounds per game on 40.7% shooting from the field.
