Packers’ two-word update on Micah Parsons’ chances of playing Week 1

Micah Parsons, many inside the NFL believe, make the Packers Super Bowl contenders, but the star pass rusher’s availability for a pivotal Week 1 clash against the Detroit Lions remains uncertain.

“We’ll see,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters, of Parsons’ chances of playing in the regular-season opener.

Parsons arrives in Green bay after posting 70 pressures last season, in addition to 12 sacks–reaching double digits for the fourth time in his first four NFL seasons.

Green Bay is banking on Parsons significantly elevating coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense, wreaking havoc up front, and being the missing piece to finally overcoming the Lions in the NFC North and leading a run at bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Titletown.

However, Parsons has been dealing with a back injury all summer and didn’t practice until arriving in Green Bay earlier this week.

“He’s doing everything in his power,” LaFleur explained. “He’s rehabbing hard. We’ve got to get through a couple of practices to see how he responds, see how he does. But certainly hopeful.”

LaFleur sounds cautiously optimistic that Parsons will be suiting up against the Lions, but we’ll know much more about his chances of playing when the Packers release their final injury report on Friday.
