Rayan Ait-Nouri has had a mixed start to life at Manchester City.
During his Premier League debut against Wolves, the Algerian did not look out of place in Pep Guardiola’s side but simultaneously, he did not stand out as such.
In his second league against Tottenham Hotspur, Rayan Ait-Nouri picked up an injury — which led to him being taken off in the first-half itself — with Nathan Ake replacing the 24-year-old at left-back.
Ait-Nouri struggled against Brighton both defensively and offensively, with Yankuba Minteh seemingly tasked to cause him trouble by Fabian Hurzeler.

Gary O’Neil praises Man City star Rayan Ait-Nouri’s quality and character
However, Ait-Nouri admitted he’s enjoying life under Pep Guardiola and it would be premature to write him off so early into his City career.
The former Angers defender has proven his status as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and at the Etihad Stadium, he could very well go on to become a mainstay.

Gary O’Neil, who managed Ait-Nouri at Wolves admitted that he was instantly impressed by his quality and character, as he told The Telegraph: “Rayan was close to leaving for France when we got there. And as soon as we got there we were like, ‘let’s keep Rayan. He’s a great kid and has unbelievable ability.’

Ait-Nouri, who Jeremy Doku hugely admires won 18, drew eight and lost 29 out of 55 games under O’Neil’s coaching at Wolves.
However, the silky technician registered six goals and seven assists while playing under his former manager’s system, who played a key role in becoming the player he is today.
If Pep Guardiola can get the best out of Ait-Nouri at Manchester City, he could remain their starting life-back for years to come.
