New Jacksonville Jaguar general manager James "I've got rocks" Gladstone (don't worry, I'll stop with the nickname soon...maybe) certainly made a splash in the 2025 NFL Draft when he traded up for rookie wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter.
Gladstone has been on the hunt for those "intangibly rich" athletes he believes make an NFL roster better. And he didn't stop in the draft. Like every team, Jacksonville brought in plenty of undrafted free agents to compete for a roster spot. B.J. Green II was one such rookie, but now he's on the final 53-man roster, and fans are loving it.

Jaguars DE B.J. Green II just made the preseason all-rookie team
Fans aren't the only ones hyped about Green. Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports slotted him in on his all-rookie preseason team. Not based on hype or draft selection, Trapasso instead built his all-rookie team on the thing that mattered most: performance.
Here's what he had to say, "While we can't draw any concrete conclusions about the entire career ahead of a player, getting those initial good first impressions can go a long way in the evaluation process." And B.J. Green didn't hold back. The undrafted rookie stood out enough to make the list, particularly thanks to his eight pressures on only 41 pass-rushing attempts.
He and Danny Striggow—another undrafted free agent on the defensive line—have consistently earned praise for Gladstone. "It was pretty cool to see that take shape and people earn their ops and earn their place. Because I think, as you guys followed us throughout the preseason, it became abundantly clear that those two guys were making a dent in real-life performances."

What B.J. Green's performance means for the Jaguars
The depth chart hasn't dropped for week 1 yet, but B.J. Green II is listed as 'defensive lineman.' He made the majority of his starts at defensive end during the preseason, so you can expect the Jaguars to utilize him there. Despite what some media outlets think, the Jaguars already have two of the top edge rushers in the league in Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker.
So what does this mean for Jacksonville? While I don't expect to see Hines-Allen and Walker rotated out as much as they were last season, the presence of Green as a solid presence at an already strong defensive end position means a level of depth that was missing before.
Sure, the Jaguars picked up Dawuane Smoot (SMOOOOT) to the everlasting joy of fans, but having a young, hungry rookie backing up the solid veterans is a step in the right direction.

Final thoughts
The preseason is over, and it's finally time for the games to count. We've all been waiting for months to see some real football, and for rookie B.J. Green II, it's time to prove he belongs in the NFL.
