Newcastle United have confirmed their squad for the 2025/26 Champions League.
For the second time in three full seasons under Eddie Howe, Newcastle United enter the Champions League.
It all kicks off at St James’ Park later this month when Newcastle host Barcelona in a heavyweight fixture under the lights on Tyneside.
They will also travel to Union Saint-Gilloise before the second international break of the domestic campaign. After that, they entertain Benfica and Athletic Bilbao before November’s break.
Finally, there will be trips to Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen in 2025. January 2026, meanwhile, sees PSV Eindhoven head to Newcastle before Howe’s side return to European champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

The headline absence is defender Jamaal Lascelles. Though the long-serving club captain is way down the pecking order these days, it’s a little harsh.
Indeed, Lascelles was brilliant for Newcastle against PSG during their famous 4-1 win over the French giants in 2023.

Why Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley aren’t included in Newcastle’s Champions League squad
Eagle-eyed fans will notice that Newcastle have not included Lewis Miley and Lewis Hall in their list.
However, there is a reason for that, and they are likely eligible to play. Due to their age, they do not have to be registered on the aforementioned A-list.
According to Dominic Scurr of The Shields Gazette, the duo are set to be named on the club’s B-list for the Champions League campaign alongside goalkeeper Max Thompson.

UEFA rules state: “A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 2004 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year. Players aged 16 may be submitted if they have been registered with the club for the previous two years without interruption.
“Each club must include at least two goalkeepers on List A and at least three in total (List A and List B combined).
“Clubs are entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season, but the list needs to be submitted no later than 24 hours before a match.”
