Leeds United were turned down in their attempts to sign Facundo Buonanotte thanks to Chelsea’s hijack, but the Argentine may already be regretting it.
United’s deadline day failure needs no further reiteration, but Daniel Farke will undoubtedly be unhappy with how it transpired.
Facundo Buonanotte looked the man Leeds were to bring in to resolve a crucial shortcoming, only for the youngster to opt for Chelsea instead.

Facundo Buonanotte surely already regretting Leeds United snub and Chelsea transfer
Leeds thought they had the Argentine ready for a medical and loan move from Brighton in August, but Chelsea swooped in at the last minute to hijack the deal.
Signing the 20-year-old on loan seemed odd at the time, given Chelsea’s hoarding of talent made for a very strong attacking setup anyway, not to mention that Buonanotte’s role as a right-sided attacking midfielder coincides with two of the Blues’ best options – Cole Palmer and Estevao.
Now, it seems that Buonanotte’s decision has immediately backfired, following these quotes upon his arrival:
“It’s a great step in my career. I’ll get the opportunity to play in the Champions League for the first time, which will be a great challenge,” he said, per The Sun.
Well, Buonanotte won’t be playing Champions League football, as he’s been left out of their Chelsea’s squad for the league phase:
Chelsea FC can confirm our squad for the League Phase of the UEFA Champions League.

A truly baffling decision from Buonanotte to reject Leeds for Chelsea
If it wasn’t already obvious enough, this career step from Buonanotte makes zero sense to anyone involved.
He’s chosen a club where he won’t play often, Brighton have allowed it, and Chelsea have no future buy option.
There’s no world where him choosing Chelsea over Leeds is at all beneficial to his development as a young player, and this proves it.
What a shambles.
