Patriots Listed as Potential Suitor for Disgruntled Receiver

The New England Patriots are set to enter a new era of football in Foxboro.

Under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel and second-year quarterback Drake Maye, New England is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. That doesn't mean, though, that there's no room for improvement.

The room for improvement on offense is why Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has tabbed the Patriots as a potential landing spot for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

With Week 1 set to kick off in just a couple of days, New England may be looking to add to a receiver room that features Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins and DeMario Douglas. Knox believes that any team looking to trade for a receiver should be eager to reach out to San Francisco.

"Teams looking for a starting-caliber receiver should place calls on Jennings and ramp up their pursuit as the trade deadline approaches," Knox wrote. "The closer the 28-year-old gets to free agency, the more eager San Francisco could be to get something in return for him."

Jennings grew very frustrated with San Francisco's front office in the offseason, and he ultimately requested to be traded or released. That request was denied by 49ers general manager John Lynch and Jennings remained with the team.

Last season was a career year for Jennings, as he racked up 77 catches for 975 yards and six touchdowns. He became Brock Purdy's favorite weapon in the absence of Brandon Aiyuk and was able to showcase his talent.

Knox's projected value for a trade involve Jennings includes a 2026 fifth-round pick as well as a 2027 fourth-round pick. He cites the recent Adam Theilen trade as the blueprint for the 49ers' asking price.

If Jennings were to make his way to New England, he would be yet another weapon at Maye's disposal and could help the Patriots reach the postseason for the first time since 2021.
