Leeds United receive huge boost after latest injury update

Leeds United go into the international break on a positive not, holding Newcastle United to a draw over the weekend. After three games in the Premier League, the Whites are in a decent position.

Last season the newly promoted sides struggled to even win a game within the first month of action, but Leeds won their opening match. Daniel Farke’s side have now won four points out of a possible nine. Elland Road is a big boost to the team; Leeds are unbeaten in their two games at home so far.

What comes as a disappointment is the fact that no player was signed on deadline day. Daniel Farke asked for reinforcements in attack, but a move for Fulham’s Harry Wilson failed late on Monday. Leeds managing director Robbie Evans explained why the club did not get the deal over the line:

“It’s pretty straightforward in that we had a player targeted, and it didn’t come through. We thought we had the right price. We put the offer in above that price, the player was on board. Club couldn’t get it done. Their club couldn’t get it done. We sent the deal sheet in after being given some indication it could work.”

It was reported early on Wednesday that Joe Rodon had pulled out of international duty with Wales. Adam Pope reported that it was not a serious issue, with the defender set for a swift return.

Now, Wales boss Craig Bellamy has confirmed the player’s status. According to the report, Rodon did not make the trip to Astana due to concussion protocols. Since there is no club game this weekend, the defender will be cleared in time for the Fulham game. Ethan Ampadu was not included in the squad list due to the injury he picked up in the first game of the season.

There is optimism that the midfielder will return after the international break. Ao Tanaka, who has a similar injury to Ampadu, is expected to be on the same timeline. Leeds could be back to a full strength side when the Premier League resumes in over a week.
