Marc Bernal looks set to wear the No. 22 shirt at Barcelona for the 2025-26 season after the number was revealed on the Champions League website.
The midfielder wore No. 28 last season, before his campaign was ended prematurely due to injury, but will switch to the 22 for the coming campaign.
The 22 has been vacant since Ilky Gundogan’s departure for Manchester City last year but now looks to have a new owner.
Bernal still appears without a number on La Liga’s website, but on the Champions League site he is listed as part of the Barcelona squad with the 22.
The 18-year-old will be hoping he can wear the shirt in competitive action for Barcelona again soon after recovering from ACL surgery, although it’s still not clear when he will make his long-awaited return.
Meanwhile, Roony Bardghji will also have a new number for the competition. He wore the 19 in pre-season but is listed with the 28 for the Champions League.
