Stephen Curry has built a career on delivering unforgettable highlights, and this past season one of those moments earned the Golden State Warriors superstar a new honor from the fans.
During a December matchup against the Phoenix Suns, Curry dazzled with a behind-the-back crossover into a floater over Kevin Durant — a play that sent the Chase Center crowd into a frenzy. The sequence not only cracked the Top 10 of the NBA’s 100 best plays from the 2024-25 season, but fans voted it Best Play of the Year in the NBA Fan Favorites Awards.
Golden State went on to beat Phoenix in this one, 109-105, with Curry scoring 22 points on 9-of-22 shooting from the field. Draymond Green, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Andrew Wiggins, and Dennis Schröder rounded out the starting lineup, while Jonathan Kuminga led the team in scoring with a game-high 34 points off the bench.
It’s safe to say a lot has changed since that night, but one thing remains constant: Curry is the most electrifying player in the NBA. This latest award is yet another reminder that when it comes to spectacular plays, Curry continues to set the standard.
For more on this and other news around the NBA, here is our latest news round-up for Wednesday, September 3rd:
The one-year, $7.9 million qualifying offer remains the most attractive offer to Kuminga at the moment, sources continue to tell NBC Sports Bay Area. The Warriors have offered a two-year contract worth roughly $45 million, but are holding strong to a team option for the second year, while Kuminga and his camp have made it clear they want a player option for Year 2.
There’s a reason everyone was so outraged when Durant joined this team. It honestly wasn’t fair. The Warriors nearly swept through the entire playoffs, winning 15 straight games and finishing with a record plus-13.5 point differential while making a team led by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love (a better top three than, say, Michael Jordan ever faced in a Finals by a wide margin) look like child’s play. Again, this is not just the greatest team of the century. This is the greatest team ever.
Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington has agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the franchise, agent Kevin Bradbury of Lift Sports Management told ESPN. He had one season left on his deal for $14.1 million and now is ineligible to be traded during the 2025-26 season.
The extension, which will keep Washington in Dallas through 2029-30, means the Mavericks have reached agreements with all key members of their roster eligible for new deals this offseason, including All-Star Kyrie Irving and center Daniel Gafford (three-year extensions).
“Absolutely, especially with that 4-point ball, that gets me excited,” Thompson said. “I just want the Big3 to go international, I think that would be so fun to see the Big3 go overseas and do a little tour.”

Dub Nation doesn’t need a reminder folks. We had front-row seats when the greatest team ever assembled lost a dynasty on one snap. KD drilled three bombs from deep, the dynasty’s pulse was back, then Toronto’s floor went silent. Kerr said it best: “An incredible win and a horrible loss at the same time.” That was us. Confetti dreams soaked in medical tape.
