Three City players out on loan who should still be part of club's future plans including…

Manchester City have had a busy summer on the transfer front, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Indeed, Manchester City were busy both on deadline day and the day after, with Gianluigi Donnarumma joining the club and several players leaving.

City have loaned a fair few players out and, while not all will be expected to return to the club, some very much appear to have a future at the Etihad.

Manchester City News looks at three City players who are out on loan but who should still be part of Pep Guardiola’s plans going forward.

Vitor Reis tipped for ‘incredible future’ amid Girona loan

The first player on our list is Vitor Reis, who joined City from Palmeiras in January 2025 for a fee just shy of £30million.

The 19-year-old defender penned a four-and-a-half year contract, so clearly City have big plans for him.

Understandably, Reis could do with more experience, so he has been loaned out to sister club Girona.

Speaking on the decision to send Reis out on loan for next season, Guardiola told the City media team: “You know my opinion, I don’t like too many players.

“One of the reasons, for instance, why Vitor went to Girona. I love Vitor a lot. He has an incredible future. But I don’t want him to be at home every weekend.”

Claudio Echeverri loan move to Bayer Leverkusen could come back to haunt Pep Guardiola

The second player tipped to have a bright future at City is Claudio Echeverri, who is out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.

City agreed a deal with River Plate back in January 2024 for the 19-year-old, and he then joined up with Guardiola’s side in the second half of last season.

Indeed, City may well be regretting their decision to send Echeverri out on loan to Leverkusen for two reasons.

The first is that Echeverri would have been great cover for the injured Rayan Cherki, but the recall clause is not valid until January.

The second is that Leverkusen are up against City in the Champions League and, unlike in the Premier League, he can play against his parent club.

Sverre Nypan contributes to Middlesbrough’s superb start to the season

The third player is Sverre Nypan, who joined City from Rosenborg for £12.5million in June.

City beat the likes of Arsenal to Nypan’s signature, and the 18-year-old has been tipped to reach the levels of compatriots Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.

Nypan has been loaned out to Middlesbrough and he has played a small part in their impressive start to their Championship season.

He made his debut off the bench in Boro’s 2-1 win over Norwich City before playing the second half of the 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

‘Played his part in ensuring Boro built on a solid first half to get the win,’ wrote Teesside Live as they gave him a rating of 7 out of 10.

‘Played a role in the goal and was up for the battle when protecting it too.’
