Manchester United have had a mixed start to the Premier League campaign with four points from three games.
They were the better side against Arsenal in the curtain-raiser, but the Gunners came on top by a solitary goal.
Against Fulham, United could have won the game had Bruno Fernandes converted his penalty.
Fernandes redeemed himself by scoring a late penalty to beat Burnley (3-2). The club need to score more goals from open play.
Benjamin Sesko has yet to start in the Premier League, having had a disrupted pre-season after his transfer from RB Leipzig.
He has come off the bench in the first three league games, but he could make his first league start in the Manchester derby.
United travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on September 14.
Sesko, who is currently with Slovenia for the World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Sweden, appears raring to make the XI.
Speaking to reporters via Ekipa, Sesko said that he is ‘getting better and faster’ in every training session.
He added that he is very much looking forward to the upcoming games, including the all-important derby against Man City.
He said: “The level of the matches is certainly much higher, the players and teammates are also at a higher level. After all, English football is at the highest level in the world of football.
“But I am very much looking forward to the coming period, also because I am getting better and faster in every training session, and I am also progressing in my football mentality every day.
“It’s true, it’s an incredibly big match coming up [Manchester derby]. There will simply be some pressure on both sides to just win this match.
“There’s still quite a bit to go until this match, but we’re definitely looking forward to a top-notch match.”
The £61 million-rated star has had a tough introduction to English football.
His only start came against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round, where he was visibly poor. Sesko managed just seven passes and lost 10 out of 12 duels contested.
He was way better against Burnley at Old Trafford last weekend. The 22-year-old had a couple of headed efforts, where he should have at least tested the Clarets’ goalkeeper.
Matheus Cunha picked up a hamstring injury in the same game. His potential absence for the derby could pave the way for Sesko’s first league start of his Red Devils career.
Sesko has the opportunity to open his goalscoring account against the Cityzens later this month. It would be the perfect way to announce himself on the Premier League stage.
