Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson threw for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions last regular season. Jackson added another four touchdowns via the rushing game in an electric performance.
But, it was Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen who won the NFL MVP award. Allen had 383 points with 27 first-place votes, while Jackson had 362 points and 23 first-place votes in a close finish.
Allen threw for 3,731 yards with 28 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 12 scores and 531 yards, so Jackson had more passing yards and touchdowns than the Bills QB.
With Week 1 approaching, the Ravens' signal-caller spoke for the first time about missing out on the award, and he issued a simple response.
"I mean, the voters chose who they wanted. It is what it is," Jackson said, via Sarah Ellison of Ravens Vault.
Jackson won the NFL MVP award in 2023 and, despite monster stats in 2024, just missed being a back-to-back winner. The Ravens QB was the unanimous league MVP in 2019 and nearly did the same in 2023, missing out by just one vote of another unanimous award.
Entering the season, Jackson received 11 votes from NFL.com analysts to be this year's NFL MVP, with Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow second on that list with nine votes.
At the end of the day, Jackson is focused on this season, and the Ravens kick things off on Sunday Night Football against Allen and the Bills in Buffalo in a massive AFC showdown.
