Manchester United had a productive summer transfer window with five signings.
The primary focus was on bolstering the forward department for the manager.
Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko were signed alongside Diego Leon and Senne Lammens.
The arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Lammens has spread speculation that Altay Bayindir or Andre Onana could depart.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12, while the Saudi Pro League’s window closes on the 21st.
Sporx now claim that Trabzonspor are searching for a new goalkeeper after selling Ugurcan Cakir to rivals Galatasaray.
They have made an offer for Stefan Ortega, who is the third-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City behind Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford.
In the meantime, United have also offered the services of Andre Onana on a season-long loan deal.
Trabzonspor are said to be evaluating their options and could make a final decision soon.
Onana unlikely to move to Trabzonspor
The 29-year-old, who was signed for £47 million from Inter Milan in 2023, had a difficult 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils. He made five errors leading to goals.
Hence, it is unsurprising that he has been ignored by manager Ruben Amorim this season. Altay Bayindir has started the first three top-flight matches.
Onana’s only appearance has come in the shock Carabao Cup second round loss at Grimsby Town where he should have done better for both goals conceded.
Lammens was signed on deadline day by the Red Devils, and there is a good possibility that he could become the first-choice shot-stopper going forward.
Like Ortega, Onana has basically been demoted to the third-choice position, but we don’t see him leaving the club for Trabzonspor after snubbing Galatasaray.
The Turkish champions showed interest in Onana last weekend after missing out on Ederson, but the Cameroonian would prefer to stay and fight for his spot.
Unless he has made a huge U-turn on his decision, it seems unlikely that he will accept a temporary move to Trabzonspor before the Turkish transfer deadline.
