And given that the game is a standalone contest on Friday night, is against the Chiefs and also happens to be broadcast exclusively on YouTube, Chargers players know the world will be watching.
"I love playing football, so to be able to show everyone in Brazil, since I've been playing this game since four, five years old, what I've been working on, I'm excited to show y'all," said Derwin James, Jr. "I'm pretty sure these guys are excited, too.
"Anywhere we could play the game, we could play in the parking lot," James added. "It really doesn't matter, so to be able to come into the country, get an experience of a lifetime, amazing fans out here, we're excited to give you all a show."
Quentin Johnston said: "It's just us being excited for the moment, having the opportunity to do something like this that a lot of people don't get to do. We take it one step at a time no matter if the flight was long or not. It's still a blessing and a privilege to be able to play in front of you guys, in front of the world and for ourselves, for our teammates to be able to continue to move up and show what the Chargers are about."
Of course, this isn't an ordinary Week 1 for the Chargers.
They had a 12-hour flight to São Paulo from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and will now get ready to play on another continent and in a unique environment.
"I think we've done a good job preparing for that," Herbert said. "We've understood that we're going to lose some time to traveling, but as long as we're on the film, practicing.
"We started last week, so to be able to make up that time, I think it's been really helpful for us," Herbert added. "So, we're able to come out here, enjoy everything while at the same time get all the work in and make sure we're watching as much film as we can."
The goal, however, remains the same.
Start the season 1-0 and begin a potential repeat trip to the postseason.
"We're out here to play football, enjoy the game, come out here and try to dominate and play winning football," Mack said. "We're just coming out here to have fun and put on a show for you guys."
