FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - The law firm Morgan & Morgan has announced that their client is suing former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler in connection with a car crash in October 2024.
The firm states that the lawsuit was filed on behalf of Perry Lee, who, on October 18, 2024, was involved in a car crash with Cutler.
They claim Lee was driving down Bridge Street in Franklin when Cutler drove into the rear of his vehicle.
“Mr. Cutler was allegedly following the plaintiff at an unsafe distance and driving at an unsafe speed. Mr. Cutler was also driving under the influence at the time of the crash, and pleaded guilty to that charge last Tuesday, according to news reports,” Morgan & Morgan said.
Recently, Cutler took a plea deal in his DUI case. He was arrested on October 17, 2024, after he rear-ended a blue GMC with his white Dodge Ram truck on Bridge Street.

You can read the lawsuit below:
“Our client is a veteran who was injured in a car crash due to the alleged negligence of another driver. His injuries from the crash cause him daily pain and have eroded his quality of life. We are seeking justice for him so he can get the care he needs and try to move forward with his life.”
Cutler’s arrest affidavit from the Franklin Police Department described the former quarterback as visibly intoxicated and stated that he offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police and to let him drive away.
The Franklin police officers found a rifle and a loaded Glock pistol in the center console of his truck.
He was charged with driving under the influence, possessing a gun while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care and implied consent.
As part of the plea deal, Cutler pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and his weapon possession charge was dismissed. He also agreed to “forfeit” the pistol in the deal.
The 42-year-old football star is required to pay a $350 fine and serve four days at the Williamson County Jail beginning on September 29. He will also be on unsupervised probation for one year and must attend a DUI safety class. His Tennessee license was also revoked.
