CLEVELAND, Ohio — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was asked during Wednesday’s press conference, about his connection with wide receiver Tyreek Hill, on and off the field.
Tagovailoa spoke of it from a positive tone.
“I would say it’s good,” Tagovailoa said during Wednesday’s press conference.
It all dates back to Hill pulling himself out of the 2024 season finale, and suggesting he wanted a trade.
Tagovailoa stated at the beginning of training camp that Hill had to rebuild his teammates’ trust in him after the debacle.
Though Tagovailoa implies that it was exaggerated by the outside, and that he and Hill have worked on it.
“I think for what it was earlier in the summer, was just that. And I think people might have blown it out of proportion to where now, we’ve worked on it,” Tagovailoa said.
Hill was traded from Kansas City to Miami in 2022, and he automatically became Tagovailoa’s top weapon.
That includes the 2023 season, where Miami made the playoffs with Tagovailoa leading the NFL in passing yards (4,624), and Hill leading the league in both receiving yards (1,799) and touchdowns (13).
Miami missed the playoffs last season, and a big part of that was due to Tagovailoa missing six games, four of which came from an early-season concussion.
But with a clean slate ahead of the 2025 season, Tagovailoa looks forward to winning games.
And feels that the first touchdown pass to Hill this season, will put any outside speculation regarding him and Hill, to rest.
“I think that conversation is dead now,” Tagovailoa said. “I think once once people see Tyreek score on Sunday, everyone will forget about that.”
