Takye Heath has been through a lot since arriving at Virginia Tech. Now, heading into the Hokies' Week 2 matchup against Vanderbilt, the redshirt sophomore wide receiver finally feels like himself again.
"I feel free," Heath said Tuesday. "Just ready to play some ball."
It's a long-awaited reset for the 5-foot-10, 163-pound Richmond native, who earned his first career start in Sunday's season opener against South Carolina. After catching two passes in the first half, Heath looked confident and comfortable for the first time in a long time.
"A couple of years ago, I got hurt my first play, so it was definitely, being able to come out of that game playing like 40-plus snaps, healthy," Heath said. "It definitely does something to your own motivation and confidence."
