It feels as if the Golden State Warriors and Jonathan Kuminga will never see eye to eye.
Even with the season rapidly approaching and training camp right around the corner, the Warriors and Kuminga remain far apart on what they want, and an agreement may be out of reach.
According to Dalton Johnson, Kuminga is leaning toward taking the one-year, $7.9 million qualifying offer after Golden State refused to add a player option in their two-year, $45 million offer.

By accepting the qualifying offer, Kuminga would be basically saying that he wants to leave the Warriors as soon as possible.
That isn’t surprising because nearly all reports from inside the team have said that Kuminga wishes to depart from Golden State whenever he can.
It’s not even about the money, because he wants to play for a team that will give him more responsibilities and opportunities.
The Warriors will use Kuminga if he stays with them, but not as much as he’d like.
Meanwhile, they haven’t budged on their demands and haven’t made progress with creating a sign-and-trade deal with another team.
The Warriors haven’t been able to make any other moves this offseason because the Kuminga situation has taken up all their time and effort, so they would like a resolution as soon as possible.
No matter what happens, it feels that Kuminga exiting the team is inevitable.
They clearly can’t work this out, and any agreement they come to feels like a step toward him leaving the team sometime soon.
They will hash out something, but it won’t be long-term.
