Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love reveals what he knew about Micah Parsons trade before it happened

The Green Bay Packers are getting ready to start the 2025 NFL season this weekend when they will take on the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon. While the beginning of football season always has fans buzzing with excitement, there is even more energy among fans this week because of the massive traded that the Packers were able to pull off.

Of course, this is a reference to the blockbuster deal they made with the Dallas Cowboys, sending two future first round picks and Kenny Clark in exchange for three-time All-Pro Micah Parsons.

The days, weeks, and months leading up to the trade were wrought with controversy and rumor in Dallas, with contract negotiations between Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones constantly stalling. The four-time Pro Bowler ended up demanding a trade, but many believed it was just a negotiation tactic and he would end up signing an extension with Dallas anyway.

Even Jordan Love, who shares an agent with Parsons, had no idea a trade to the Packers was in the cards.

During the week leading up to the Super Bowl, Love was a guest on Parsons’ podcast, and made a joke about he should come play in Green Bay. While the rumors swirled that the four-time Pro Bowler was seeking a trade out of Dallas, many fans re-shared the video of Love jokingly recruiting the former Cowboys star.

But, as it turns out, Love had no idea that Green Bay was actually in on Parsons. What makes this fact all the more surprising is that he and his new superstar teammate have the same agent.

No one told him anything.

Jordan Love: “David (Mulugheta) didn’t tell me. Micah didn’t tell me, so nobody kept me in on the loop, so I was left out on that one.”

“I’m excited. It’s amazing, obviously. The flip side of that, it’s really tough losing a player like Kenny Clark.” pic.twitter.com/fOsEYri3nK

“It’s amazing. You know, I had no idea. They did a great job keeping it a secret. I saw a lot of the rumors and things like that that were floating around out there. Obviously, there was probably some stuff going on, who knows? I don’t know how all the rumors get out and things like that.

“No, they did a good job. David didn’t tell me, Mikey didn’t tell. No one kept me in the loop, so I was left out of that one. But I’m excited. It’s amazing.”

To be clear, Love is not upset that he was not made aware of the front office’s dealings. He simply was saying how impressed he was that so many people were able to keep something so big a secret.

He did, however, say there was one part of the trade that was tough: trading Clark.

“The flip side of that, it’s really though losing a player like Kenny Clark. Everything he has done for the organization, the player that he was, the person that he was in this building. It’s tough.

“But I’m excited to have Micah.”
