Sneaker collectors and NBA fans alike will have the chance to grab a new signature shoe soon, this time with one of Nike’s portfolio brands.
Converse is launching the SHAI 001 Butter, a design built to harmonize comfort, containment, durability and style as one. This product drop marks NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s first signature shoe.
The low-top style goes live on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m. ET for $130 a pair. Fans can expect the shoes to be as versatile as the athlete himself.
Details include a puffed, molded upper that lends itself as much to a futuristic look as it does to delivering the ultimate comfort experience. The forefoot features a Nike Air Zoom unit for an extra spring in your step whether you’re dribbling down the court or walking the streets.
Shai’s logo sits atop the padded tongue, referencing both his number and role as an athlete and creative. In addition to lacing up, the zipper helps you adjust for the best fit while keeping things secure. Once you get moving, you’ll find plenty of grip for optimal cuts, quick changes in direction and explosive movements thanks to the radial underfoot traction.
Shoe collaborations with athletes often sell out fast, and so do regular Nike shoe launches in general. If you want to sport the Butter colorway and move like Shai does, you’ll want to be online before 10 a.m. ET for the best chance at getting a pair.
