Nottingham Forest have significantly strengthened their squad after finishing in seventh place last season.
Evangelos Marinakis and his chiefs have spent around £205m on 13 new players, so expectations are high around the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest now have strong depth in nearly every position, so they’re much better-equipped to handle a congested fixture list, with European football on the horizon.
With the summer transfer window now shut and the squad all set, we decided to predict the Player of the Season, surprise performer and where Forest will finish in the Premier League.
Here’s what our writers have gone for.

Lee Clarke
Player of the Season: Elliot Anderson
“No brainer, if the Forest midfielder adds a few more goals, the club have their very own Steven Gerrard regen.”
Surprise Performer: James McAtee
“It might not be a huge surprise, but I think James McAtee is set for big things. In a couple of sub appearances so far he’s shown some real promise.”
Premier League finish: 11th
“Still think we will be top of the bottom half and given we got battered by West Ham, I’ve no reason to change that yet. Balancing Europe will be hard.”

Nathan Hassett
Player of the Season: Callum Hudson-Odoi
“He’s looked electric at the start of the season and with his European experience with Chelsea, he could become a driving force on both fronts.”
Surprise performer: Igor Jesus
“When you look at the Europa League fixtures, there should be plenty of chances for Forest to register victories and for the likes of Jesus to pick up form, he looks sharp so that first goal could see him really kick on.”
Premier League finish: 9th
“I think Forest will find themselves in that mini block competing for the final European places, but the Europa League may end up becoming a distraction.”

Mark Marston
Player of the season: Chris Wood
“I think a lot of non-Forest supporters expected Chris Wood’s 20-goal season last year to be a one-off, but he’s already netted two in three league outings this term. I reckon he’ll get a similar return with the quality out wide and centrally.”
Surprise performer: Omari Hutchinson
“A lot was made of the fee Forest outlaid on Omari Hutchinson’s signature after netting three goals whilst laying on two assists for Ipswich Town last term.
“However, there is bags of ability there and in a better side, he’ll take his game to the next level and improve his output.”
Premier League finish: 8th
“Forest probably have one of the best squads outside of the big six, if not the best, but European commitments could prevent them from really pushing towards the top of the table.”
“Still, an eighth-placed finish and a successful Europa League campaign would be exciting.”
