Manchester United had a busy end to the summer transfer window with plenty of ins and outs at Old Trafford on Monday.
The Reds left it late to sign a new goalkeeper, forking out £18million to prise Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. Ruben Amorim will be hoping the 23-year-old, who kept the most clean sheets in the Belgian Pro League last season, can hit the ground running for United.
As for outgoings, United also sanctioned several exits, with Rasmus Hojlund completing a loan move to Napoli. Elsewhere, Antony completed a permanent transfer to Real Betis, Jadon Sancho secured a loan move to Aston Villa and Harry Amass left to join Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday.
Below are some of the latest United headlines as well as a view on each one.
Adam Wharton 'frontrunners'
According to TeamTalk, United and Chelsea are frontrunners in the race to sign Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window. The report claims the two Premier League clubs have shortlisted the 21-year-old midfielder as a 'key target'.
It's said that United and Chelsea view Wharton as a 'potential game-changer'. The former Blackburn Rovers playmaker sees his contract at Selhurst Park expire in June 2029.
Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: "Wharton played a huge role in Palace's shock FA Cup win last season and has the Premier League experience most top sides crave.
"The 21-year-old is also an England international who has been to a major tournament with the Three Lions at Euro 2024. Ineos are looking to sign young stars at Old Trafford, and he fits the bill perfectly."
United could get dream Onana scenario
United are reportedly willing to part ways with goalkeeper Andre Onana. *Teamtalk*claim that discussions with the Saudi Pro League as a potential destination are genuine.
It is said that while no deal has been finalised, talks are ongoing, and United are open to offers from other leagues as well.
Isaac Seelochan of The Manchester Evening News says: "Onana's days at United are surely numbered. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has let the Reds down too many times, and a sale to Saudi Arabia would surely be a dream scenario for United."
