Everton have enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning three of their four fixtures across all competitions.

Jack Grealish signed for Everton on loan from Manchester City, and the winger has been in incredible form for the Toffees so far this season.

David Moyes had been desperate to bring the former Aston Villa man to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the Scot got his wish, with the England international already looking transformative.

Everton beat Wolves 3-2 on Saturday 30 August, with Grealish’s two assists adding to the two he had already picked up against Brighton.

Grealish was named in the Premier League team of the month, underlining the impact he has enjoyed with the Toffees.

Beto enjoying new partnership with Jack Grealish

Beto was named in Troy Deeney’s team of the week after his display against Wolves, with the striker bagging the game’s opener.

Grealish peeled off his defender to find space for Vitalii Mykolenko’s lofted pass, before heading across goal and into the path of the Guinea-Bissau international, who could not miss.

“My favourite goals are tap-ins and these kinds of goals,” Beto told EvertonTV, speaking after the game.

“It’s so difficult to have these type of goals, but I think this season, if I’m more alive, I need to believe that the ball will arrive – and it will arrive.

“I told Jack (Grealish) at the beginning of the game, I said, ‘Give me one today.’ And five minutes passed, he gave it to me, so it was perfect. I’m pleased with the result.”

Beto can reach new heights due to Jack Grealish

There is no confusion over the role Beto is expected to play for Everton. He is not a striker who will drop to get involved in build-up, and he is not going to drift to the wing to dribble inside.

Beto, who cost Everton £30million in 2023, is there to get on the end of crosses and launched balls, causing a nuisance for the opposing defenders and finishing well inside the box when the chance comes.

Against Wolves, he did exactly that. The striker’s goal was a classic, but it was his role in the second that caught eyes.

In the box again, Beto looked to be lining up his second finish but, instead, stepped over the ball and left an easy finish for Iliman Ndiaye.

The former Udinese man enjoyed a strong season last time out, scoring 12 goals in all competitions for Everton.

But Grealish’s arrival appears to have prompted a step-up in Beto’s game this season, and the competition of Thierno Barry will not hurt either.
