Every corner you take, Celtic seem to continue to frustrate and annoy the supporters, even after the summer transfer window slammed shut.
After a 2025 summer transfer window to forget, Celtic’s squad, albeit not what the fans and Brendan Rodgers wanted, took shape, and the final details were put in place.
That included Celtic naming their final Europa League squad for the 2025/26 season on Wednesday evening, and it included some interesting omissions.
There has probably been more noise about who has been left out than who has been included, as Jahmai Simpson Pusey’s exclusion, alongside Shin Yamada and Hayato Inamura, has to be questioned.

Manchester City loanee Jahmai Simpson-Pusey left out of Celtic’s Europa League squad
If you are Manchester City and Pep Guardiola, you are probably questioning why on earth they loaned out Simpson-Pusey to Celtic.
If you are going to loan another player, especially from a high-profile club in the Premier League, then you expect that individual to play and earn some minutes.
But after Simpson-Pusey signed for Celtic, the supporters have yet to see him in action, and now he has been left out of the Europa League squad.
If those in Manchester City colours are fuming and bewildered, then don’t be surprised because his whole loan is about developing at a club like Celtic, and all the pressures that come with it.

Did Brendan Rodgers want to sign Simpson-Pusey?
Yes, there will be some ardent Celtic Park supporters who will be stating that the club’s youngsters should come before a player like Simpson-Pusey.
That’s fair enough!
But then, why loan a player like that in the first place? Because you then have to question if Rodgers wanted the player in the first place?!
After all, it has been a summer where the Celtic manager has been frustrated to his core with how business has been conducted by the club.
