Insider drops bombshell about Leeds United chiefs’ dispute with Daniel Farke over Champions…

Leeds United had a very tough ending to their promotion campaign, especially after the events near the end of the season. The Whites were dropping points as Burnley closed the gap on them.

After a serious of errors that cost Leeds some points, Daniel Farke decided to drop Illan Meslier to the bench. Karl Darlow stepped in until the end of the seaosn. Many taught. Many fans expected a change in the goalkeeping department.

Leeds searched far and wide, and even explored a move for Belgian keeper Senne Lammes. But they later pulled out of the race after seeing his price tag. The club eventually decided on Lyon keeper Lucas Perri. The Brazilian was bought for a record fee in the position.

But Perri was not the only option the club assessed. Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale were all considered. According to sources behind the scenes at the club, one particular target had divided the higher ups at the club.

Daniel Farke was a big fan of Bayern Munich keeper Alexander Nubel, who was his preferred choice. Farke had reportedly been tracking the keeper for years. But according to Beren Cross of The Athletic, the pursuit of the keeper was “the most divisive process across June and July for the club’s hierarchy.”

Leeds United Chiefs were not convinced about Nubel, which dragged out the search for a new number one. Lucas Perri was eventually chosen at the end.

“Sources with knowledge of the situation, speaking anonymously to protect relationships, say Farke liked Bayern Munich’s Alexander Nubel.”

“Aaron Ramsdale, Nick Pope, Robin Zentner and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic were all discussed at various times.

“But availability and agreement across United’s key figures dragged the process out. Perri was ultimately the player who ticked most of the boxes at the top of the club.”

Transfer dispute is not a great sign

A dispute between the decision makers at the club is not a good sign. That coupled with the recent interviews from Robbie Evans just shows how the club chiefs were never on the same page with Daniel Farke. If that goes on for long, the German might be on his way out of Elland Road soon.
