'Compliment' - Brighton star responds to Bayern Munich and Barcelona transfer links

The goalkeeper swapped Anderlecht for Albion in 2023 for around £16 million, and since then, he has made 70 appearances in all competitions and established himself as the club's number one.

His form has led to links with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and ahead of the Netherlands facing Poland in their latest World Cup qualifier on Thursday, the Dutchman was asked about these specific club rumours.

In response to that speculation, he told [Soccer News](https://www.soccernews.nl/news/eredivisie-top-zat-niet-te-slapen-volgens-eerste-doelman-van-oranje/#google_vignette): "It’s always a compliment to be associated with such big clubs, but I haven’t been thinking about it that much."

While Bayern are looking for a long-term successor to 39-year-old Manuel Neuer, Barcelona signed 24-year-old Joan Garcia this summer, so a Blaugrana switch seems very remote.

Verbruggen, who has three years left on his Albion contract, also made it clear he is focusing on delivering for his club and country ahead of the 2026 World Cup, rather than transfer rumours.

"I’ve had problems with my knee this summer and have focused on staying fit. To be honest, I don’t know what has or hasn’t been going on," said the 23-year-old.

"My agent keeps me out of it. If something becomes very concrete and choices have to be made, I’ll hear about it. It’s important to stay calm and take everything step by step.

"Then I’ll see where it takes me in the end. The focus this week is on the Dutch national team, playing the qualifying matches and achieving good results."

Verbruggen has also been credited with interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea, but it seems he isn't leaving Albion any time soon.
