**Newcastle United will kick off their Champions League campaign in style this season with a visit from Barcelona on 18th September.**

Ahead of this clash, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has had to submit his A-list squad of players for the competition, with the gaffer only able to name 21 players due to a lack of homegrown players available to him.

Lewis Miley and Lewis Hall, having both been born after 1st January 2004 are eligible to go on the B-list which is where homegrown and club-grown young talent can be used without taking up a space in the A-list squad.

Newcastle have plenty of players with Champions League experience in the squad this time around, so there's a feeling that, despite the change in format, the players will be more ready for what's to come.

Newcastle registered everyone they needed to for the Champions League - unlike some other clubs

All of Newcastle's new summer signings have been included, with Eddie Howe managing to avoid having to make too many difficult decisions about players to leave out, with Jamaal Lascelles and John Ruddy missing out. Neither player is a regular feature for Eddie Howe, so, as unfortunate as it is for them, they'll not be too big a miss.

Unlike poor [Facundo Buonanotte](https://x.com/Football__Tweet/status/1963298707694071987), who signed for Chelsea on deadline day, excited to be playing in the Champions League for the first time, only not to be left out of the squad.

And yet, players keep signing for them.
