Lia Walti has brought her time at Arsenal Women to a close after seven successful years with the north London side.
The 32-year-old midfielder moved to the club in 2018 from German outfit Turbine Potsdam and became a key figure in the team.
She won the Women’s Super League title in her first season and achieved her dream of lifting the Champions League in her final campaign.
The Swiss international is now expected to complete a move to Juventus, after reports linked her with the Italian club earlier this week.
Emotional farewell message
Walti confirmed her departure in a heartfelt message, describing Arsenal as more than a football club and calling it her “safe place.”
As a player, person and steward of our club, there’s truly nobody like Lia Walti.
Across seven years and 183 appearances, we made history together.

She said: “Arsenal is so much more than just a football club for me, it became my home, my second family, my safe place, a place I always wanted to return to and all I have in my heart right now are just beautiful memories I will always keep with me.”
She added: “I think the most important thing for me is as well the friendships and the relationships I’ve created with the people because that means so much more than just playing football.”
Reflecting on her final game, she said: “My biggest dream was to win it with Arsenal and it finally happened and now it actually was my last game at Arsenal so I think it could not end any better.”
Walti admitted that leaving is difficult after so long, but said the club shaped her and allowed her to grow both as a player and a person.
Juventus move closer
Reports suggest Juventus have held talks with Walti over the past weeks and are working to complete the deal before the 10 September deadline.
The midfielder has already given her approval to the move and is confident about joining the Turin club once her recovery is complete.
She underwent an abscess operation on 4 August and is currently unavailable for selection.
Walti’s time at Arsenal also had its challenges, as she suffered a serious knee injury in 2019 which kept her out for nine months.
Despite that setback, she earned a place in the PFA Team of the Season for her strong performances in 2018/19.
With Mariona Caldentey establishing herself in the midfield after her award-winning campaign, Walti’s chances of game time may have reduced, opening the way for a new chapter.
