Bonus conditions on Antony to Real Betis revealed–High bar for payments to Manchester United

The bonus conditions in Antony’s move from Manchester United to Real Betis had been laid out, with a high bar set before United receive more money.

That’s [according to ABC Sevilla](https://www.abc.es/sevilla/), who cover the deal for Antony today after he finally secured his return to Betis at the end of the summer transfer window.

He had made it clear he wanted to return to the Spanish side for months after shining with them on loan in the second half of last season. It took three months for that deal to be done, and it’s a complicated one according to ABC.

They say that the initial fee Manchester United will receive is €22m, with €4m in additional objectives.

Of that €22m, Betis will pay €4.5m per year as part of the amortisation but that figure can increase by almost €500,000 each year if they qualify for the Champions League or win a European title. That, though, is something Betis would be happy to pay as they will have more money in the bank from those competitions anyway.

They have also successfully negotiated down Antony’s salary to fit him into the squad, with his first year set to be less than €10m.

There is also a third part of the agreement. Manchester United had wanted 50% of a future sale but Betis fought and negotiated this to 50% of the profit, or capital gains, from a future sale instead.

Betis are hoping that will benefit them down the line and they can sell the player to ‘buoyant markets’ such as Saudi Arabia. What it does mean, though, is that the likelihood of Manchester United making future money on the Brazilian seems slim.

It would take him shining in Spain again, and consistently, then a huge bid coming from somewhere else before they receive any bonus conditions. The bar has been set high on that regard, and the bonuses, and it remains to be seen if it works out.

In the meantime, the forward is set to be a part of a documentary about his convoluted move to Betis this summer. He’s been followed by a team who’ve documented everything, according to [Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/betis/2025/09/04/emotiva-historia-antony-betis-podra-ver-documental.html) and are now shopping it around. We’re sure Manchester United fans will be eagerly anticipating that.
