Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has revealed that a Manchester City player gives him abuse every time they play each other.
The Scottish star is a player well known around the Premier League, having featured in the division 206 times, while being Aston Villa captain also sees him front and centre of most confrontations that happen on the pitch.
Arguments are common on the field of play, with Erling Haaland’s latest scuffle with Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke being the perfect example of this.
McGinn has recently been speaking about his best friends in football and has stated that a Manchester City star gives him abuse every time they come up against each other.

Jack Grealish gives John McGinn abuse when they play each other
McGinn played with Jack Grealish during their time together at Aston Villa, with the duo lining up alongside each other 81 times, combining for a total of four goals.
David Moyes recently revealed that everyone speaks positively about Grealish, and during their time together at Villa Park, the winger and McGinn became close friends.

When asked about what it is like to play against his closest friends in football, Grealish and Andy Robertson, the Aston Villa star stated that it is weird and that they both antagonise him in different ways.
“No, it’s weird. It is weird. Same when I play against Jack (Grealish). Strange. Jack gives me a bit of abuse, whereas Robbo knows how to get me off my game, so he’ll make me laugh,” McGinn told Sky Sports.
McGinn will face Grealish again after the international break as Aston Villa travel to Everton, where Alan Shearer believes the Manchester City loanee has been thriving ever since completing his loan move during the summer.
John McGinn’s record vs Manchester City
Aston Villa will face Man City on October 26, a game Pep Guardiola will be hoping his team arrive in better form than they are now.
That is a match McGinn can certainly wait for, as the Scotland international has a terrible record against the Manchester club.
Having played against City on 10 occasions, the 30-year-old has lost seven, drawn one, and won just two against the Premier League giants.
McGinn has scored one goal and assisted another in these contests, with that strike coming in 2021, a game Man City went on to win 2-1.
