January bid for Everton star seen as unlikely after ‘staggering’ offer claim

Inter Milan are unlikely to make a move for Everton forward Iliman N’Diaye in the January transfer window, with doubts about reports of a €46m bid in the summer anyway.

Corriere dello Sport cover the situation today and look at the claims that Inter had moved for the Everton star this summer.

They cover Inter’s summer transfer window and what might happen next after they failed to sign the forward or the “dribbler” that they were looking for. They were linked with a move for Ademola Lookman for much of the window but never got a deal done.

That interest won’t be revived and so the Italian side will turn to other targets. A report in England this week had suggested that N’Diaye was one of them.

According to that report Inter Milan had seen a €46m bid for the Everton star rejected this summer. Corriere have doubts about that, though.

They say such a ‘significant bid’ would have been ‘staggering’ for Inter Milan to make as the figure is ‘beyond the limits’ that have been set by the club’s owners Oaktree. They would have had to approve such a bid being made. Given that they refused to do so for Lookman, it seems unlikely that they did for N’Diaye either.

And it seems unlikely that, if that they are looking for an alternative to Lookman in January, the Everton star will be one they’ll turn to, particularly if that’s the price being quoted.

Indeed, the current focus is on Malick Fofana at Lyon. Interestingly, he was subject of a bid from Everton this summer but turned them down. The Toffees went on to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton instead.
