Ben Simmons is a former NBA Rookie of the Year and three-time All-Star, but soon, he could also be a retiree.
A new report about Simmons’ future makes it clear that he could be stepping away from the league.
“Ben Simmons has generated interest from the Knicks and another team but is also questioning whether he even wants to continue playing in the NBA next season, The Post has learned,” Stefan Bondy wrote.

Simmons has had a very difficult time over the last few years.
After a blockbuster start with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2017-18, Simmons became one of the hottest young stars in the league.
He averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game in his opening campaign, which led to him being named Rookie of the Year.
From there, Simmons earned three All-Star selections and became a central part of the Sixers.
But then things fell apart between him and the team, and, since then, it hasn’t been smooth sailing.
He experienced diminished output and many injuries during his time with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.
Last season, he produced just 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists across 51 games.
When the summer rolled around, most people assumed that Simmons would sign a short-term, minimum contract with a different team.
But free agency has dragged on, and interest in him has been minimal.
Yes, the Knicks are intrigued by him, but they probably wouldn’t give him a ton of time on the court.
Simmons would have to be comfortable with a backup role, and even more questions about his future.
He still has time to weigh his options and could choose to sign with the Knicks or perhaps another team, or Simmons could decide that things will never be like they once were and he should step away from the NBA for good.
