Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets has been known to make a few outlandish and memorable claims about the NBA, but his latest opinion will have supporters as well as detractors.
Porter recently said that there is only one player in the league who is a better shooter: Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
“Stephen Curry, that’s the only one I’m giving like a clear elite, can shoot better than me,” Porter said.

Porter went on to list other stars who can score well, such as Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Duncan Robinson, and more.
But he believes that only Curry is superior to him when it comes to getting the ball in the basket under pressure.
Last season, Porter produced 18.2 points on 50.4 percent from the field and 39.5 percent from downtown.
Curry’s numbers were 24.5 points on 44.8 percent and 39.7 percent from beyond the three-point line.
It’s important to note that Curry handled the ball a lot more often than Porter and obviously carried a bigger load for his Warriors.
Still, Porter is indeed one of the most respected shooters in the league and has been a part of multiple games when he has produced clutch shots.
But saying that only Curry is better than him is going to receive some pushback from others.
Some fans don’t agree, while others simply do not like the idea of someone making such a confident claim.
Porter is just about to start his first season with the Nets, which will give him a chance to shoot even better and score more.
He is coming to a Nets team that is eager for a leader, someone to guide the team with a mix of skill and experience.
That could be Porter, and he may be starting a very exciting part of his career.
He believes that Curry is the only person who can out-shoot him, and 2025-26 will give him a chance to prove that.
