The Turkish Super Lig’s 2025/26 summer transfer window has been one of the most dramatic in recent history, with record-breaking spending and headline-grabbing deals reshaping the league.

The window, which opened on June 30 and closes on September 13, has given Turkish clubs a unique advantage, allowing them to continue business beyond the September 1 deadline in Europe’s major leagues.

According to Turkiye Today, the “Big Four”, Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor have splashed a combined €123.08 million on new players. Fenerbahce have led the way with €49.56 million in spending, while Galatasaray secured the league’s most sensational deal by signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli for a record €75 million, the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.

Besiktas, meanwhile, have been among the most active in the market. Despite suffering disappointment in both the Europa and Conference League qualifiers, the Istanbul giants are pressing ahead with a squad overhaul blending experienced internationals and promising talents.

Their latest move has seen Besiktas table a €22 million (£18.5m) bid for Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard, according to Sozcu. The 30-year-old Belgian, who joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 for £27m, has contributed 28 goals and 13 assists in 124 appearances but now faces stiff competition for a place following the arrivals of Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, and Eberechi Eze.

Besiktas view Trossard as a marquee addition to complement new signing Vaclav Cerný in their push for the Süper Lig title and are optimistic about luring him with the promise of regular minutes. The bid aligns with Trossard’s current market valuation of €22m, as estimated by Transfermarkt.

Arsenal’s response remains uncertain. While the Gunners rejected a bid from Saudi side Al-Ittihad last summer, unwilling to lose Trossard without a replacement lined up, sporting director Andrea Berta may yet weigh Besiktas’s offer against the club’s £255m summer spending spree and the need to balance the books.

Manager Mikel Arteta has repeatedly praised Trossard’s versatility, describing him as a player who “gives us so much flexibility” and thrives in tight spaces. However, with game time increasingly limited at the Emirates, the Belgian could be tempted by a fresh start in Istanbul, where he would be guaranteed a central role.

The Super Lig’s extended transfer window, which closes at 21:00 GMT on September 13, continues to give Turkish clubs a strategic edge in the market. With Besiktas pushing hard.
