A report has emerged claiming Manchester United could be set for further financial windfall to line the coffers following Antony's summer transfer switch to Real Betis.
After months of speculation, the Brazilian left United on transfer deadline day to complete a permanent move to the La Liga outfit.
Antony spent the second half of last season on loan with Betis and had been heavily linked with a return to the Spanish club on a permanent basis this summer.
After a summer full of twists and turns as to what may happen regarding his future, the winger eventually completed a permanent move to Betis bringing an end to a disappointing United tenure.
The deal in total is worth €25million (£21.6million) with a €22million (£19m) initial fee plus a further €3million (£2.6m) in add-ons. United also included a 50% sell-on clause in the deal which United receive would receive if Betis made any profit from the deal for Antony.
A report from Spain has provided some insight into the deal which saw Antony leave United to join Betis. It has been reported by ABC Sevilla, that Betis will pay €4.5million per year to United over the length of the four-year contract that Antony has signed.
The article goes on to claim that United could receive more money from Betis thanks to a clause included in the deal. Betis will apparently have to pay an additional €500,000 (£434,000) to United if they win a major trophy or qualify for the Champions League in any of the seasons in which Antony is under contract.
Therefore, there is the potential for United to receive an additional €2million (£1.7million) if this clause is met every year. It would then take the total transfer fee up to €27million (£23.4million) for the total fee for the transfer, if the report turns out to be correct.
United released a statement confirming Antony's departure on deadline day, which said: "Manchester United and Real Betis have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Antony, subject to international clearance and registration. The Brazil international has rejoined the club where he spent the second part of last season on a loan basis, scoring nine times in 26 games across all competitions.
"He helped the Seville-based outfit reach the UEFA Conference League final, supplying four goals and three assists, although Chelsea lifted the trophy in Wroclaw. Antony signed for United from Ajax in the summer of 2022 and made a total of 96 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
"He performed well in the Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle United that landed a trophy for Erik ten Hag's team and was also part of the squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup in the following season, beating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley in the final.
"The South American's final outing for the Reds came in January of this year, when he appeared as a substitute during a Premier League defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. Everybody at the club would like to wish Antony the very best of luck for the future."
