It’s been another record-breaking summer in the transfer market, and once again, Premier League clubs have dominated spending across Europe.
Only one team outside of England makes this top 10 list, which tells you a lot about where all the money is in the game these days.
Read below as we count down the clubs with the highest transfer spend in the 2025 summer window (using information from Transfermarkt).
10) Sunderland – €187.9m
The Black Cats spent the most among the newly promoted clubs, splashing out the likes of Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra and Brian Brobbey.
New sporting director Florent Ghisolfi signed players of all ages to add greater quality to Regis Le Bris’s squad.
9) Bayer Leverkusen – €198.15m
The German side had their squad gutted in the summer, with players such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Piero Hincapie all leaving.
Reinforcements were required, and they spent heavily on the likes of Malik Tillman, Jarell Quansah, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Loic Bade and Equi Fernandez.
8) Manchester City – €206.9m
The Cityzens have had to replace several ageing players, including Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson. Only time will tell if they have made the right signings.
Tijjani Reijnders, Gianluigi Donnarumma, James Trafford, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait Nouri have all been brought in.
