'Ipswich is a really ambitious club' - 18-year-old joins Town Women from Arsenal

Ipswich Town Women have announced that 18-year-old Maddy Earl has become the club's eighth signing of the summer.

The young attacking midfielder has joined the club from Women's Super League side Arsenal on loan for the season.

She signed her first professional contract with the London side in January, spending last season on loan at Women's Super League 2 sides Bristol City, making seven league appearances and Sheffield United, where she made five league appearances.

She said: "I am really pleased to be here.

"Ipswich is a really ambitious club and I want to contribute to the team as much as possible this season. I feel like this is a great place to develop my own game as well.

“I would describe myself as a forward-thinking creative midfielder who likes to get on the ball and make things happen.

“I now can’t wait for that first game of the season on Saturday."

Joe Sheehan, Town Women's manager, added: "Maddy is really well thought of at Arsenal and someone we’ve known about for quite a while.

"We think she will complement our team very well.”

Maddy will wear the number 19 shirt for Town this season and could make her debut at Southampton on Saturday in the WSL2 opener.
