Dreading past losses doesn’t weigh Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love down. It’s driving him to perform better and continue his development in the NFL.
When he takes to the field for the first time in 2025, Love will go against a Detroit Lions team that had the Packers’ number last season, sweeping both divisional matchups in 2024.
Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay will offer Love the chance at kick starting a revenge run in the NFC North after going 1-5 in division play last season.
“It definitely sits with you,” Love told reporters on Wednesday. “I think, not even just going against the Lions, but just our performance against every team in the NFC North, it wasn’t good enough, wasn’t up to our standard. That’s definitely something that’s lingered with us throughout the offseason.”
The Packers haven’t won the NFC North since Love took over as starting quarterback in 2023 and he has a 5-7 record all-time as a starter against divisional opponents.
Despite making the playoffs both seasons Love has helmed the Green Bay offense, winning those critical NFC North games has not come easily.
Coming off an early playoff exit last season against eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles where Love threw for three interceptions, he’s focused on getting off to a fast start this season against the Lions.
“It’s always a point that we focus on is trying to go out there and win the NFC North. It starts with that,” Love said. “We definitely got a good test coming here Week 1, be able to get us started on the right foot. We’ll be ready for them and, just comes down to going out there, executing, playing our best game.”
