Giants star has message for Commanders’ Jayden Daniels ahead of Week 1

When the Giants visit the Commanders on Sunday to kick off the 2025 season, receiver Malik Nabers will be reuniting with a former teammate.

But Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels has the edge over his old friend after beating the Giants twice last year in the former LSU stars’ shared rookie season.

“I was like, ‘Enough is enough. I’m coming to get you,’ ” Nabers said Wednesday, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post.

Coming out of LSU in 2024, Nabers was picked No. 6 overall by the Giants and Daniels was taken at No. 2 by the Commanders. In their final season together at LSU, Nabers recorded 89 catches for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns for the Tigers.

The duo’s first NFL seasons looked pretty different. Daniels and the Commanders went 12-5 and made it to the NFC Championship game while Nabers’ new team finished 3-14.

Nabers practiced very sporadically this offseason, dealing with toe, shoulder and back injuries. He did not play in any preseason games.

Head coach Brian Daboll has previously said that the toe thing is something that Nabers has had to manage since LSU. In his rookie season last year, he dealt with a groin injury. At the time, he said that was something he’s had to deal with since college.

Nabers finished his first season with the Giants with 109 catches for 1204 yards and seven touchdowns.
