The New York Jets were delivered tough injury news before their season even began.
Coach Aaron Glenn told reporters on Thursday that offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker will miss all of 2025 after he tore his left triceps in Tuesday’s practice.
Injuries have plagued the 2021 first-round pick throughout the course of his young career. The 26-year-old tore his right triceps in 2022 appeared in just seven games. He also tore his Achilles in 2023 and missed 12 games. He started 15 games for the Jets in 2024 and was poised to play a big role for New York this season.
Vera-Tucker, who was voted as one of the captains for this season, is entering the final year of his rookie contract.
The offensive line looked to be one of New York’s strengths going into 2025, but now will be tasked to shuffle things around without arguably their best offensive lineman as the Jets prepare for Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
