Kuminga prepared to end talks over Warriors contract offer

Golden State’s Jonathan Kuminga is reportedly ready to end contract talks with the Warriors after months of stalled negotiations.

Golden State Warriors are the only NBA team this offseason that hasn’t added a player via trade or free agency, largely due to ongoing contract negotiations with forward Jonathan Kuminga.

The 22-year-old former G League Ignite star and Golden State are reportedly far from reaching a long-term extension.

Sources suggest Kuminga may end up playing on the qualifying offer for the 2025-26 season, a one-year deal worth $7.9 million, before testing unrestricted free agency in 2026.

"There haven't been any indications suggesting that the Warriors are thinking of changing their offer, and unless they do so over the course of the next week, Kuminga is prepared to end talks and accept his qualifying offer, league sources said," reported Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

The Warriors reportedly offered a two-year, $45 million deal with a team option in the second year and Kuminga waiving his no-trade clause — a clearly team-friendly contract.

"At the end of the day, Kuminga wants to feel valued, and the Warriors haven't given him ample reasons to want to stay," Siegel added.
